Student Government (SG) represents your interests to the administration and allocates student activities fee funds to student events. The president, two vice presidents, two student liaisons to the board of trustees, and SG's legislative assembly (the College and Graduate Councils) create committees that focus on issues ranging from student affairs to community relations to student services. To learn more about how to get involved in the committees, or to run for the College Council, stop by SG's office or check the Web page in autumn quarter.

College Council

Elected by class year, the College Council's 16 members provide a forum where students can present complaints, concerns, and thoughts to be heard and discussed—and then forwarded to the committee or administrative office best suited to take action. College Council meetings are open to all students.

Graduate Council

With representatives from each professional school and graduate division, the Graduate Council sponsors University-wide graduate social events to encourage cross-campus interaction and creates an opportunity for representatives from all graduate areas to identify issues of mutual concern, brainstorm solutions, and work with the administration.

Inter-House Council

Web: ihc.uchicago.edu

A distinct governing body for the College House System, the Inter-House Council (IHC) includs representatives elected from each House. IHC provides support for cross-dorm programming and advises the Office of Undergraduate Student Housing on policies that impact residential life. Ask about getting involved in your first House meeting of the quarter.

Campaign buttons and promises proliferate every spring quarter just before the annual elections for the Student Government Association president, vice presidents, and liaisons to the board of trustees.
