Though Greek life isn't as prevalent at Chicago as it may be at other campuses, it's quite important to nearly one in ten students here. The fraternities and sororities to which Chicago students belong operate as independent organizations within the Hyde Park community, working closely with their alumni boards and national offices. Some students join the Greek system, others just take advantage of the social programs-- and then others only know Greeks from humanities class. Those who seek it out will find vibrant and friendly sororities and fraternities that create strong community among their members and participate in community service and social activities.
