Campus dining commons
Web: www.rh.uchicago.edu/hds/dining/
You can get full meals—"from soup to nuts"—at the three campus dining commons, which are open to all members of the University community and their guests when school is in session. In addition to various meal plans, cash is accepted at residential dining commons. Sunday through Friday you can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On Saturday there is no dinner, and some dining halls serve only brunch and dinner (no early breakfast) on the weekend. Check the Web site for details.
Dining commons are located in Bartlett Hall, Burton-Judson Courts, and Pierce Tower. Bartlett Hall, the newest, was the gym when Chicago was a dominant Big Ten college football power (and when it was not) and is now an airy, bright dining hall. Burton-Judson and Pierce dining halls remain popular for all-you-can-eat dining with plenty of variety. The Pierce "Wok" and BJ's pizza are traditional favorites.
New students in the College have meal plans that are consistent with the type of service offered at their "home" dining hall, but all students are free to eat in any of the three dining commons.
If you're looking for more to chew on, pick up A Guide to Campus Dining Services, available in the dining halls, or check out the Web site at www.rh.uchicago.edu/hds/dining/.
