Students in every major benefit from international experience, both academically and in their careers. We offer programs in more than 25 cities, from Cape Town to Jerusalem to Vienna. If you participate in a Chicago-sponsored program abroad, you will retain your financial aid eligibility. Because study abroad always requires advance planning, we suggest that you discuss these opportunities early with the StudyAbroad staff and your College adviser.
Summer grants and fellowships
In summer 2009, 100 undergraduates received grants to support intermediate and advanced language study or research abroad. You may consider applying for a research grant or a $3,000 Foreign Language Acquisition Grant (FLAG), the latter for any approved eightweek summer intensive language program abroad to which you are accepted.
Fourth-years with international experience are especially qualified to apply to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, and all undergraduates are eligible for the National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarships for Study Abroad.
