Reading periods

Thursday and Friday of the 10th week of each quarter are used for reading and review. Some undergraduate classes meet for review sessions; others do not meet at all.

Exams

The final exam schedule is available online at registrar.uchicago.edu/students/final-exams.html. Before making travel arrangements for your return home at the end of the quarter, consult the exam schedule. Or if you need to buy a ticket in advance, make your reservation for Saturday of exam week to avoid conflicts. Keep in mind that not all courses require finals. Also, faculty members may change the exam to a different day and time if it is more convenient for everyone. Be sure to check with the instructor if you're not sure there will be a final or when it will be given.

Grading system

Grades are sometimes based on a curve, but the mean of the curve can vary widely, so it's a good idea to ask your professors about their grading policies at the beginning of the quarter.

Finding out your grades

You can check the status of your grades and order electronic transcripts online at cmore.uchicago.edu.
